Nattvakten @ Godnatt, Sweden
A collaboration with Swedens Reich & Szyber and Peder Bjurman

• During July 2001, visitors were ferried out to find the lonely Godnatt lighthouse fort
re-awakened with an unfolding medley of sounds and voices emanating from the walls and stair well. Open to the public for the first time in 200 years

• Over the course of an hour, as visitors explored the fort, they discovered remnants of the mind and memory of a man adrift in the Atlantic - a lost soul

Based on the memoirs of Allan Bombard and his experiment to survive a-drift in the Atlantic

• The space temporarily transformed, enveloping its visitors in an exploratory journey that unfolded over 45 mins. Hammocks strung from the circular attic roof, offered a place to receive the concluding part; until a blast from the ferry boat patiently waiting outside, signalled departure

Godnatt (The Site):

An 18th century lighthouse fort.Perched on a rock off the southern coast of Sweden - A four storey building with central spiral staircase, cellar, circular attic space & lighthouse turret

• A 24 channel, 45min sound composition relayed through a system of 30 speakers discreetly positioned around all 4 floors in ventilator shafts, stoves and eaves
